![]() The moment Steam tried to update Notepad++ crashed, MSI Afterburner crashed. The reason I know this drive was fine until Steam tried to update itself, I had just used Notepad++ which was on the same drive. Steam has to have wrote somewhere on the drive to brick the drive controller firmware. This time I forgot and it took out my programs drive this morning when I tried to launch GTA V and steam decided it need to update. I typically install Steam and the games from it on a separate hard drive because of the previous failures. ![]() I've lost at least 4 drives over the last 2 1/2 years to Steam.Įach failure was caused by steam trying to update and I'm pretty sure it's something to do with Steams DRM trying to embed itself in the drive.
